PW defeats Frederick 64-37 Moves to Next Round

PW Wins first round of MAC rugby

PW star Doink outscores Frederick 39-37 as PW wins the first round of the MAC playoffs with a 64-37 win at Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park.

From Ryan "Mongo" McLean: After Frederick tied the game 12-12 early in the first half, PW had four unanswered tries (all converted) in 7 minutes of game time.  Entering the second half with the score 40-15, PW made some key substitutions.  PW traded off tries with Frederick most of the second half, ending 27 points ahead for the victory.  Big performances by both Tim Antoian and Captain Bobby Haller, the backs' and forwards' player of the match respectively.

From John Knab: Hard fought game. Plenty of areas of improvement. Good things moving forward.

From Bob Haller: We had some real well executed phases that lead to points, but at the same time, there were some points available that we didn't finish on.  I'm definitely proud of the boys and Doink (Tim Antoian), had an excellent game starting at full back.  We have two weeks to iron out some things and expect to show up to the next level of playoffs as a stronger side.

PW earned the top MAC seed last Sunday by defeating Old Gaelic by a score of 70-26. The win was set up by a 43-22 semifinal win over Reading. PW played home on Saturday April 12th at Memorial Hall field in Fairmount Park against Frederick.
