Throughout a storied athletic career, Bill "Ernie" Racich has accumulated many awards - including being a member of the Philadelphia Whitemarsh Hall of Fame. After a ceremony on November 26, he can add another honor to the list: Bill is now a member of the Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame thanks to his exemplary record as Ursinus College's head wrestling coach.
(Sept. 2, 2014) Matt Boccuti has been named the new head coach of Malvern Prep’s Rugby Team, Malvern Athletic Director Kurt Ruch announced today. Boccuti works as a science teacher at Malvern Prep and will be overseeing the long-term development of the sport and the recruitment of new students to the team.

Nancy Jane Christie Cox, 81, a longstanding West Philadelphia resident and former Director of the University City Arts League and Democratic Committee leader, died on Tuesday, August 28, of a stroke at University of Pennsylvania Hospital.
PWRFC opened their spring season with a 30-7 friendly loss to NYRC in The Big Apple. Last spring, NYRC made the trip to Memorial Hall where PW took care of their 'C' Side. This year, PW went north and lost to NYRC's 'A' side.

After a 28-19 loss to the Saratoga Stampede, Philly Whitemarsh participates in a seedling match for next year against the Chicago Riot. The starting line-up for PWRFC was: Cox, Corsica, Uli, McLean, Walsh, Foley, Thompson, Haller, Oteri, Maraki, Leib, Knab, Rosato, Engle, Tulio. Reserves were: Grey, Oberlies, Bleam, Stewart, Pierce, Tower, Conway and B. Engle.
Philly Whitemarsh RFC (10-0) fended off a late push from North Penn RFC (8-2) to win their MARFU Semifinal Saturday afternoon by a score of 23-16.PW used a strong first 30 minutes to build a 15-3 lead and then scored an unconverted try on the last play of the game to advance to the MARFU Championship Match.
Welcome Andrew Joseph Fusco Jr. He was born July 18 at 3:39 pm. A whooping 19 inches long and 6 lbs. 11 oz. Both Sarah and Andrew agreed that he will be a wonderful addition to the PWRFC family. We hope by dressing him in a more professional outfit he will be smarter than daddy and when asked what position he wants to play, front row isn't his first choice.
North Penn scored a converted try early in the contest as the NP backs broke through the PW line scoring under the posts. PW surged in the first half numerous times before scoring in the corner. The conversion was wide. 5-7. PW again surged many times nearing the NP line on several occasions but couldn't punch it in. PW finished the contest just feet from the NP line, but in fairness North Penn held on for a deserving victory.
The weather was chilly but the clear. the field, however, was in bad shape - very muddy.
After a bit of a slow start in the first match versus Wharton Business, PW scored 29 unanswered points to pick up two victories early in the spring season. Acting skipper, R. Keith McLean was pleased with the efforts of the team.
The PWRFC is practicing on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Heuser Park through Nov. 12: 7:30 arrival, 7:45 warm-ups, 9:30 end. Heuser Park is located on Geerdes Blvd. in King of Prussia. Bring boots and rugby shorts.

On Wednesday April, 9, 2014 Roman Catholic will play two matches against the team from Victoria Australia at Edgely Field located in Fairmount Park near 33rd and Diamond Streets.
Philly Whitemarsh (3-1) has their first winning streak of the season going after 30-6 win over Second City Troop (2-2) on Saturday. SCT hung around through half time but PW pulled away in the second half while holding their opponent without a try for the first time this season.
Philadelphia Whitemarsh RFC (5-1) finds themselves position to repeat as EPRU champs after dismantling Old Gaelic RFC (4-2) 34-12 in a EPRU semifinal on Saturday. Old Gaelic scored first on a 70 meter intercept before PW rattled off 34 unanswered points, advancing to the EPRU Championship Game where a rematch with Reading RFC (5-1) awaits. PW defeated Reading 29-10 in their last regular season game.
