PW Makes Plate Final at North Penn Sevens
PW had great day of rugby at the North Penn 7's tournament this last Saturday. Having little to no practice at 7's, we started slow against two quality opponents but finished strong winning 2 of our last three...eventually (barely) losing in the Plate Final to Doylestown due to some injuries, etc.
This is the exact reason why numbers are so important in these tournaments when you have to play 5-6 matches.
Thanks again to Ray and Amir for coming out to play, as they provided great depth and impact to the side. Having recently graduated LaSalle High, we expect great things to come from them in the college ranks and hope to bring them into the fold once they get old like the rest of us!
Also, Youngblood had a great day...hands down one of the best all-around performances since he's been with PWRFC and I anticipate this to continue. Of course, it goes without saying Tim Foley was all over the field, but we come to expect those sort of things from a great player. Cesare, Ian, Frey, Dreger, and Dom all played above what was asked of them and I think once we got some timing together, things really started to flow well.
Moving forward, all of those who were there agreed we should definitely look at least 1-2 other tournaments to enter, while continuing to run some 7's trainings on Thursdays. There are a bunch of tournaments we can enter, so let me know if this is something we want to continue to go for.
